Welcome to Hospice of San Francisco. We started this non-profit back in 2004 with the idea of providing Hospice and end-of-life information to our community.
It was started by Shelli Johnson, Philip Murphy, and Anne Nilon. Shelli Johnson has been involved with community based care for children in San Francisco for many years. Philip Murphy co-founded Crossroads Home Care and Hospice in 1995. Anne Nilon was responsible ( as Director of Patient Care Services) for helping to take Crossroads from a small start-up in 1996, to one of the most respected Hospices in the Bay Area. It was an amazing experience - working with great people - employees, vendors, colleagues, and especially the patients and their families. Both Phil Murphy and Anne Nilon left Crossroads early this year for other new and rewarding experiences - including this one!
This website is dedicated to carrying on the mission of providing free hospice information to the people of San Francisco. As we make our web presence known, we hope to provide a very substantive website, that compliments so many other great websites here in San Francisco.
We are a community that has been in the forefront of health care since before the 1906 earthquake. We have a population that encompasses a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, and otherwise diverse group of great people! And when it comes to end-of-life-care, we are among the best in the nation, and in the world.
What we hope to achieve here is to compliment the existing on-line resources that exist, and to create our own set of tools to help people make decisions when it comes to end-of-life care.
It may take about six months to complete, but I think you all will be pleased. Email me otherwise and I promise to get back to you!
